Helsinki Finland May 2026

In May of 2026, I travelled to Helsinki for a week of work.  I had just visited there in late 2024.  I have been to Finland many times but typically I have not worked in Helsinki, most of my time has been spent in Tampere and Jyvaskyla.  (See pictures from my first trip to Finland in 1995 and last trip to Helsinki Finland in 2024).

Working in Finland is a tough job

Finland is half the size of Texas, but there are more people in DFW area than in Finland.

There is a lot of great artwork all over Helsinki with old and new statues including some artwork that I do not understand.

I met my co-worker Gyro in Helsinki.  We stayed in the old part of Helsinki, close to the harbor, the Esplanade, the Senate Square and the Market Square.  We had beautiful Spring weather, I just needed a light rain jacket.

Just like I did in 2024, Gyro and I took a ferry connection out to the historic Suomenlinna Fortress Island from the Market Square and spent about 4 hours seeing the old fort built to protect Helsinki.

After Gyro flew home, I spent a day sightseeing and ended up with a parfait and beer.
