In May of 2026, I travelled to Helsinki for a week of work. I had just visited there in late 2024. I have been to Finland many times but typically I have not worked in Helsinki, most of my time has been spent in Tampere and Jyvaskyla. There is a lot of great artwork all over Helsinki with old and new statues including some artwork that I do not understand.
I met my co-worker Gyro in Helsinki. We stayed in the old part of Helsinki, close to the harbor, the Esplanade, the Senate Square and the Market Square. We had beautiful Spring weather, I just needed a light rain jacket.
Just like I did in 2024, Gyro and I took a ferry connection out to the historic Suomenlinna Fortress Island from the Market Square and spent about 4 hours seeing the old fort built to protect Helsinki.
