Maine September 2022

In September of 2022, Felicia, Susie and I flew from DFW to Portland, Maine to spend a few weeks looking over Maine, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island (PEI) and New Brunswick, Canada.

Welcome to Maine!
A moose was loose in the Portland, Maine airport

We went to Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont 20 years ago in the Fall of 2002 but we did not see any leaves changing color – bad timing that year.

One this trip we did see the leaves changing from green to yellow, orange and red.  Very beautiful.  Also spent days going up and down the coast, visiting many lighthouses, taking harbor tours and eating great seafood.

This trip we got to see yellow, orange and red leaves. Glad I did not have to rake

Owl's Head, Maine - going to see the lighthouse there
At Rockland, Maine

We spent out last four days in Rockport, Main.  Stayed on Main Street which runs along the coast.  Not too busy but it was hard as heck to find bars and restaurants open.  We think it was past the end of tourist season so a lot of places closed for the year.  Some were just closed on the Monday and Tuesday while we thought we might eat on Monday and Tuesday.  Some place just closed really early.  So the places that were open at night were really crowded.

Back again in 2022

The Cape Neddick Light is a lighthouse in Cape Neddick, Maine.  In 2002, we took our picture in front of the lighthouse on a nice, warm sunny day.  Around 2017 we were at the Red Lobster in Plano, Texas and I took a photo of the painting below – same place.  In October, 2022 we were back at the same place but the weather was cold, rainy, windy with large waves

Marshall Point Lighthouse. We went up to, in and on so many lighthouses that I forgot which was which.
Nice view from Camden Hills State Park. We also went up to Mt Battie Tower. I climbed to the top, girls were too cold
We had never seen a real pumpkin patch, this was a few weeks before halloween so had to keep my sister from stealing a pumpkin

On the dock in Rockport
Felicia wanted to go to Bangor, Maine to see Stephen King's house. It did not look too spooky in the daylight

I am pretty sure that I had at least one lobster roll each day that we were on vacation
I have always wanted to go to the LL Beans store in Maine. We went there on our way to somewhere and stopped for 30 minutes. I got a good idea that turned into a birthday jacket. Susie bought a big shoe
Ate good seafood here a few nights while in Rockport
I can't pass up fun signs like this
Wiscasset, Maine. I wanted to get a lobster roll here but the line was too long, going around the corner, 30-40 people waiting in the rain for lobster rolls.
Beach in Acadia National Park, - I took my shoes off and got in the water and it was cold
