Australia September 2022

In September of 2022, I flew on a direct flight from DFW directly to Sydney, Australia to meet up with Mark N.  COVID testing and travel reqstrictions were over with in the US, but because a flew on QANTAS, I had to wear a mask for the entire 16 hour flight.

From Sydney, we caught a flight to Adelaide, South Australia.  I had not been there before and it was very nice, I’m ready to go again!

It always scares me flying to Australia and New Zealand, 12 to 13 hours over water with no place to land

Adelaide is on the south coast. Canberra is the capitol of Australia and is SW of Sydney.
While I was in Adelaide, Queen Elizabeth died. She was very loved and the whole country was in mourning. She had visited Australia 16 times during her reign

Spent 3-4 days in Adelaide and got to drive up into wine country for wine tasting and went to Peter’s house.

Later flew to Canberra for 2 days of work, then spent one night at Sydney airport hotel before flight back home

We stayed at the city center of Adelaide. Could walk to restaurants, bars, shooping or take the train to the coast.
All the flags in Australia were at half mast
Saw a kangaroo hopping across the road as we were driving north of Adelaide into wine country
Having a drink and dinner at the club in downtown Adelaide
The club was full of animals

Peter has a very nice houise in the hills northeeast of Adelaide.  He has a green thumb and a lot of unusual plants as well as a vinyard.

Flying back to Dallas I got a good view of the Sydney and the Sydney Opera House
