Tampere, Finland

In May of 2016, KJ and I headed back to Tampere, Finland to work for 10 days. Unlike my last 2 trips in 2015, it was Spring and the weather was nice. There were some piles of snow around, but the temperature was in the high 50s tomid-60s and I thought it was perfect weather.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles.  On this trip we went from DFW to Heathrow, laid over for about 2 hours and then on to Helsinki. Once in Helsinki early in the afternoon, we took a train north to Tampere and then rented a car at the train station in Tampere. We had a brand-new Audi; it was nice driving around while there was not snow during every trip to and from work.

We stayed at the Original Hotel Ilves in Tampere, which is at a perfect location. It is next to the river that the town is built around and it is 1 block from the main street in Tampere, Hameenkatu. I stayed there in 2014 and 2015 and it is now like a second home to me. If you are ever passing through Tampere, I suggest staying at the Original Hotel Ilves.

It was springtime in Finland, and although it was chilly by Dallas standards, it was very enjoyable, the sun was out and people were out walking, running, biking, drinking beer and coffee all evening long. About the evening, it was not dark at midnight and it was light every day when I woke up before 6 am.
