In February of 2023, Perry and I flew to London Heathrow and then on to Stockholm, Sweden for a few days. Perry bought his wife Susie with him, she got to spend some good time touring and going through museums. We did our work and got to spend a few hours seeing some of Stockholm. I had been to Stockholm before in June, 2011. In the summer, it was light very late and was beautiful weather with thousands of tourists out. In February, not very many tourists, it was wet and snowy and got dark early, but we had a good time.
Don't take pictures!
You can't go to Stockholm with a stop at the ABBA Museum
We went to the Restaurant Pelikan in old Stockholm for some traditional Swedish food and beer as recommended by Rick Steves. This place has been open since 1733. Appetizers include a nice bowl of potatoes and 4 kinds of pickled herring (they eat a lot of potatoes in Sweden). Although they had reindeer steaks, I just had to have Swedish Meatballs with lingonberries and even more potatoes. Also had several beers and tried some Swedish Aquavits,
Stockholm is built on many islands. We took a ferry over to the island that has a large amusement park, the ABBA Museum and the Vasa Museum. The Vasa, an old ship that sank on its maiden voyage in about 1630 was raised in the 1960s and had a museum built around it. The Vasa Museum is very impressive.
Walking around Old Town Stockholm looking for a place for Dinner. We did find an excellent German restaurant.
