Port Stephens and Bondi Beach - Page 6
Port Stephens is on the coast about 100 miles north of Sydney. We drove from Sydney up through Newcastle to get to Port Stephens. We went on a great whale watching tour, hiked to the top of a pretty high mountain that had a good view of the ocean, met an old Australian lady that had a kid at Texas Tech, tried to drive to some sand dunes and almost got our rental car stuck, visited the Australian Shark and Ray Center and ate some good fish and shrimp at several places.

We went to the Australian Ray and Shark Center where they keep 400 sharks and dozens of rays of different types. Had one 9-foot-long shark and several 5-foot-wide sting rays (with sharp barbs removed). I paid extra money for waders to get in the water with the sharks and rays. My waders had a leak, I got wet and laughed at because of where the leak was at.
Bondi Beach
We stayed for several days right on Bondi Beach. Bondi is the most famous beach in Australia. In the summer it is home to hundreds of surfers, tiny bathing suits, some topless bathing suits and thousands of people. In the winter, it was a little slower, all the swimmers and surfers had on wet suits. Cold water – see Susie and Kendra getting their feet wet.
Sydney Harbor Again
On our last day in Australia, we walked from Bondi Beach to the train station and went back to Sydney Harbor, where we had spent our first day. Took more pictures, climbed up the bridge to get a good view and shopped on the old Rocks part of town for some good souvenirs. Felicia also ate some very hot food and barely survived, thanks Kendra for getting her some water!
