We drove to Florence and stayed at a hotel on the River Arno.
It was the same place that Felicia, Susie, Larry and I had stayed
when we took a tour of Europe in September of 1998.
On the way to Florence, we spent 3-4 hours in Sienna, a very
beautiful old town with a large square and big churches.
Kendra chasing the pigeons through the square in
Sienna. She was fast but there were many or them
than there were of her.
In Sienna we stopped and took a few
pictures (a few hundred). This is one
of the few that I am in!

and wanted to be in every picture.
We drove from Florence to Pisa to see the town and the Leaning
Tower of Pisa. We missed that our first time through Italy. On our
way back to Florence, we stopped and had dinner on a real working
Tuscan farm. We drank wine and at food that they grew on that farm
and were charmed by the very entertaining farmers wife. The
farmhouse was a very fun and memorable evening.
Typical Tuscan farm in the hills with a vineyard
and olive trees. The food and wine were all
strange and delicious to us.
We had some kid sitters. Kendra liked
her freedom from us. We sort of liked it
also.
Leaning Tower of Pisa. We had a Professor
from the local university as the local guide and
he really knew about the tower and the church.
On our way back from Pisa, we stopped and had dinner & wine at a working Tuscan
farm. The wife of the farmer was very entertaining, a good story teller and also was
good salesman. Almost everybody on our trip left there with wine, olive oil and some
grappa. After we left the farm we went back to Florence.
It was very cold when we had left Florence that
morning. We had bought scarfs and gloves
since being good Texans we never thought of
bringing our own,
