When we got to Christchurch we were all sad because our trip was almost over.  We stopped at
the Antarctic Centre at the Christchurch Airport for a very nice 3 hours.   Christchurch Airport is the
gateway to Antarctica for many countries.  The had a very nice display on the history of exploration
of Antarctica, the nature there and how humans survive there.  They even had a cold room where we
put on boots, coats & hats while the temperature was -30C and the wind was blowing very hard.

One of the things we did at the Antarctic
Centre was to take a ride on a Hagglund
Vehicle over a short obstacle coarse.
The things can go up & down steep hills
and even float
We spent the last night of our trip at the largest alpaca farm in New Zealand.  We stayed at Silverstream
Alpaca Stud, which is a farm stay about 20 km outside of Christchurch.  It was a very nice working farm
with about 150 alpacas.  Kendra had a great time walking through the pastures.  We all learned a lot about
the alpaca business - they are related to sheep and their wool is very soft, warm & valuable.
Kendra had a fun time chasing the alpacas
through the different pastures.  She had to
open and close the gates.  She tried to
feed them but they seemed too shy.  They
look smarter than sheep though.
This is really roughing it.  I think the
girls are already planning our next
trip.  Wherever it is, I am ready to go!
Our last night in New Zealand, we went to downtown Christchurch
to see the old town center.  We walked around and it seemed busy
and loud after 2 weeks of staying on farms and in cabins.
